Publishing Options for Reader Posts

Use Options to Modify Posts

Take full control over how your Posts appear to your audience with publishing options in Reader. Whether you’re managing visibility, setting custom authorship, or adjusting the timeline of your Posts, these tools help tailor your publishing experience to match your needs.

How to Access New Publishing Options

When creating a new Post in Reader using the + icon, you’ll now notice several options available. These enhancements allow you to:

  • Backdate your Post to an earlier date/time
  • Set a Post as Public or Private
  • Customize the Publisher Name and Avatar

Each of these features is designed to give you more flexibility and personalization when creating content.

Pro Tip: When creating a new Post using the “+” icon, ensure you select the appropriate Topic. The new Post will show in the selected Topic/section.

Publish With an Earlier Date

Generally, Posts appear in the Topic with the latest Post published showing in the top left. Posts appear chronologically from the top left to the bottom right. Use a specific Publish Date/Time to place the Post next to an existing Post in the Topic.

Under the option “When would you like to publish this Post?”, choose between:

  • Publish Now – Your Post appears chronologically (newest at top left and oldest at bottom right) using the current date and time.
  • Publish with Earlier Date – First, select the  “Publish with Earlier Date” option. Then select a specific earlier date and time/timezone for the Post to appear. Your Post displays chronologically using the specified date and time.

An Organization Admin can view Internal Sources for content published to a Topic. The existing content shows when it was published.

Set Your Post as Public or Private

Control who can see your content with the PDF Privacy Setting:

  • Public – Anyone with the link can view the Post.
  • Private – Only users who are signed in can access the Post.

This is great for managing visibility, especially when sharing sensitive or internal content.

Customize the Publisher Identity

By default, Posts show the Publisher Identity based on the user’s Profile (name and avatar). You can override the default setting for each Post.

  • Click the Choose Avatar button to upload a custom image.
  • Use the Publisher Name field to enter any name you want to appear as the author.

This feature is especially helpful for brands, campaigns, or managing multiple content personas.

Note: Review the Deleting Posts in Reader article for removing Posts.
